First International Symposium on Biological and Integrated Control in Algeria

The Scientific Association Biology, Biodiversity and Sustainability and the International Organization of Biological and Integrated Control organized this Symposium from 4 to 6 February 2019, which was attended by about 300 participants.

Plenary sessions focused on the current status and prospects of biological control work using microorganisms, parasitoids and plant extracts in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. The importance of developing biocontrol methods as a means for pest management in Algeria was emphasized, as was the constitution of a biological control network.

Supporting agroecology knowledge exchange in Western Balkans and Caucasus countries

FAO, government officials and civil society organizations from the Western Balkans and Caucasus countries discussed Agroecology in a meeting that took place from 3 to 4 of April in Albania. The main objective of the meeting was to assess the current situation of Agroecology in the region and how successful cases can be scaled up. FAO will support the knowledge and good practices exchange among the different stakeholders, and the development of national plans on Agroecology.
