CFS paves the way for Policy Recommendations on Agroecology
Agroecology was the lead topic during the 46th Committee of Food Security (CFS) that took place in FAO Headquarters from 14-18 October 2019.
Member states are convinced that Agroecology and other innovative approaches are the way to transform food systems through inclusive dialogues, multilevel and multidisciplinary approaches. Besides, they agree that it is necessary to invest in research in order to consolidate Agroecology.
European agriculture should develop towards agroecology according to EESC
A report elaborated by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) calls for an action plan for agroecology.This report encourages the European Union to put greater emphasis on short supply chains and on agroecology in farming in order to preserve its agriculture and make it more resilient to new challenges, such as climate change.
