46th Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS)

This 46th CFS Session will take place in FAO Headquarters from 14-18 October 2019.
Agroecology will be represented during the entire event culminating in a side event entitled  ‘’How to support an Agroecological Transition that sustains food security in developing countries?’’. Other side events aligned with different key issues like innovation, health, sustainable diets, agroforestry and public policies will be showcased.

Beacons of hope: 21 Inspring Examples of a Sustainable Food Future

Beacons of hope is an expert network composed firstly by 21 initiatives from across the world that are working in diverse ways to achieve sustainable, equitable, and secure food system. Secondly, by the report on the initiatives and thirdly, by an interactive Food Systems Transformation Toolkit that provides policymakers, investors, businesses, and researchers with comprehensive and practical recommendations with the goal of amplifying the power and potential of food systems transformations and contributing to the global discussion about sustainability transitions more broadly.

FAO and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries launch new Training Centre for Sustainable Family Farming

FAO and the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) have joined forces to boost food and nutrition security in their territories through strengthened sustainable family farming and agroecology development.
The creation of a new training centre headquarted in São Tomé and Príncipe will facilitate knowledge exchange and capacity building for technicians, farmer field school instructors and family farmers, with a special focus on increasing their participation in agroecology and family farming laws.

This webinar will present the concept and benefits of agroecology and share experiences of how it has been successfully applied in two IFAD-funded projects in Niger and Cambodia.
