Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and Malnutrition

For two days, the first Global Parliamentary Summit against Hunger and Malnutrition gathered more than 200 parliamentarians from 80 countries to advance the international political will to achieve Zero Hunger.

The participants highlighted the crucial role that legislative bodies play in this challenge, identified and shared political experiences, legislation and good practices. Parliamentarians repeatedly drew attention to agroecology as a critical element in the path towards Zero Hunger.

The Summit was a joint initiative of the Spanish Parliament, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, FAO and the Latin America and the Caribbean Parliamentary Front Against Hunger.

Agroecology in Moldova: a pathway to sustainable food systems

Last 11th of October saw farmers, social organizations, government representatives and FAO coming together to discuss the future of policies on organic agriculture and agroecology in Moldova.

Participants analyzed the current legal framework and identified ways to move the transition to organic and agroecological production forward. "Ecological farming is the future of the agriculture in Moldavia", said Iurie Uşurelu, Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture.
