COAG continues to support FAO’s work on agroecology

The Committee on Agriculture (COAG) held last 1-5 October discussed FAO's activities on agroecology. The Committee encouraged FAO to continue those activities, including the Scaling up Agroecology Initiative and the work on normative, science and evidence-based work on agroecology as well as providing policy and technical support to countries upon their demand.

HLPE - Open consultation on "Agroecological approaches and other innovations" draft report

The High Level Panel of Experts on Food Security and Nutrition (HLPE), the science-policy interface of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS), has opened an open consultation seeking for suggestions, comments and inputs to the Agroecological approaches and other innovations for sustainable agriculture and food systems that enhance food security and nutrition report.

The consultation is open until the 5th of Novembre 2018.

The “100% organic state” Sikkim in India wins Gold Future Policy Award 2018

This year’s Gold Prize has been awarded to Sikkim, the first organic state in the world: all of its farmland is certified organic. Silver Awards have been granted to Brazil's National Policy for Agroecology and Organic Production, Denmark's Organic Action Plan and Quito's Participatory Urban Agriculture Programme.

Three Honourable Mentions went to the Good Food Purchasing Policy of Los Angeles (USA), to the Agriculture Development Programme of Ndiob (Senegal) and to the From Arms to Farms Programme of Kauswagan (Philippines).
